Another example of some old work...

I've lost my inspiration lately. Sorry... for the disappearing act the last two month... trying to get back on track. Maybe it's the winter blues but... here is some more old work... Seriously going to try to get some new work together soon!

The shots above are from around Stockholm and Copenhagen. I just love the way the wall looks when the paint starts to peel and the colors are so bright, vivid and beautiful. I also like the way that some of the peelings turn the walls into maps... it's as if these missing patches of color become small countries (as someone so nicely pointed out by writing Africa, on one of the walls).

The point of starting this blog was to share some of my photography but that fact seems to slip my mind, a lot. Blogging about fashion, kids toys, crafts, etc. is so much more fun! oh well. Anyway, I have a couple of projects in the works... here are some shots from "Stone, Wood and Metal".

The first two shots are from NYC, 2004. The following two are from Granada, Spain 2003 and the last shot is from Lisbon, Portugal 2003. Enjoy!

Let a Kid be a Kid

I notice that a lot of parents like to dress their kids very adult like and I admit that every so often I see a little kid out and about in these little outfits and it melts my heart. But for the most part I say "let a kid be a kid"... bright colors, imagery, fun, wild clothes. In other words child-like. One of my favorite brands is sma folk, a Danish Brand. Back to the rooms... So, I am still on the search for the perfect house and until then we are working on renovating the apartment we have now, thus, hopefully making the sale more profitable. I am currently not happy with our living room and I can't figure out why, we've got great floors, windows, light and ample space but still I am not satisfied. The pictures above are what I am going for... When I have the the time I will take pictures of our place and show you what all the complaining is about.

Wow, it's been a while.

So lately I've been totally obsessed with renovating. Our kitchen and bathroom are in desperate need of new floors, walls cabinets, the works. We bought our apartment last July and have yet to renovate... I shouldn't complain though we are lucky to have what we have. It's big, bright, airy and in a great neighborhood. Best of all we own it. So, until we have the money to do it right I'm working with what we have and constantly looking to others for inspirations. Above are my ideal bedrooms. I love rooms with very little furniture and bright and airy feel. As you can see I deffinetly have "a type".

"Street Art" is one of my favorite subjects to shoot because of its semi-permanent existence. This particular project explores the transient state of cities around the world by dissecting their public spaces. I love knowing that returning to the same space will never be the same.

As mentioned before, I am still getting the hang of this blogging business and thus don't know how to label my work so far now I'll just say the first two shots are from Prague, Czech Republic in 2002 and the three remaining shots (as well as the header for this blog) are from Luxor, Egypt 2006.

Art Collecting

I just made my first Etsy purchase! I can't believe how excited I am. Earlier today I was browsing over www.sfgirlbybay.com and came across the artwork of an Australian artist named Catherine Campell and it truly was love at first sight! Her work is so sweet, so delicate, so girly and flirtatious... I love it! I couldn't buy just one print... so two prints will be coming my way in the next week. YIPEE!

Creativity

So, one of the main reasons I created this blog was because I have been so inspired by other bloggers. Once my daughter is asleep I find myself in front of the computer searching to find new creative outlets, cool projects, interesting objects, random finds. I have spent hours looking at patterns, paintings, portraits, stitch work, hand sewn dolls and my new favorite house tours... oh the lost hours looking at strangers apartments/homes.

Lately I have also been inspired by paperwork. Anything from collage to scrapbooking... there is so much to be done...

I recently found Mollie Greene's website... (www.molliegreene.com) to be of great inspiration. Check out her crafts and the beautiful pictures of her children. I also recommend www.rbuffet.com written by Annie Koelle, a.k.a creative inspirations lady #1.

So, please be kind... I'm new to this blogging thing... not really sure what to say...?

Why am I here? Isn't blogging a little egocentric? Yes and no. Mostly yes... sorry bloggers of the world. But who are we to assume that anyone gives a crap about our life, our thoughts, our inspirations? With that said, let me share with you my life, my thoughts, my inspirations and my life's work... that being my writing and photography... as well as some resent craft work.

Am I being egocentric? Maybe but no one said anything when I had my website. What happened is this: my old website (redmag.org) got shut down due to hosting complications (ie; high prices) and I as times are financially tough at the moment I thought I'd give this blogging thing a try. It's free!
